This came from an old magician’s estate. Has the original instructions. When we acquired this the black wand was missing. We have located a vintage solid wooden wand that fits into the plastic hollow red wand perfectly and makes the trick usable again. And actually, using this wooden wand with the plastic wand drives home the idea even more so that the magician is using two different wands during the color change effect.
Effect: An ordinary magic wand, black with white tips is shown and passed through a paper tube. It instantly changes to a red wand with white tips! Passing it back through the tube changes it back to black and white.
Naturally, the spectators figure on a second wand and will tell you so. Unperturbed, and not heeding the cries of the spectators, the magician again changes the color of the wand to red but, accidentally (on purpose) the tip of another wand has come into view. In response to audience demands this wand is pulled from the tube and it is yellow with white tips!
They think the black wand is still inside the tube so the paper tube is shown, unrolled and torn up!
The appearance of the yellow wand is a laugh surprise and the tearing up of the paper tube leaves them completely mystified.
A really great self-contained trick!
It’s confusing and amusing and an audience-tested effect that will soon become one of your favorite sucker effects!
