A spectator is unable to locate a court (Queen) card that is in between four other spot cards. The ending to this routine will really take them by surprise! You’ll find this to be a really nice entertaining version of the commercially sold “Clip Cards” and in this routine you use actual playing cards and not just one specially printed card with the picture of a spread of cards on it.
The performer shows five actual playing cards in a spread which consists of four spot cards and one Queen. The Queen is in the center of the spread. The performer asks a spectator to remember the position of the Queen as he turns the spread face down and hands the spectator a clip. The spectator is asked to place the clip onto the Queen, which the spectator does, but when the spread is turned over it is seen that the spectator missed the Queen by one card. The spectator is asked to try again, but again they miss the Queen. The performer says that maybe he’s using too many cards so one of the spot cards is removed and placed aside. This places the Queen in a new position of second from the bottom which is seen and confirmed by the spectator. The cards are turned face down once again and the spectator places the clip on the card which is second from the bottom believing it to be the Queen. But when the cards are turned face up it is seen that once again the clip has missed the Queen!
The magician says maybe there are still too many cards so he removes a second spot card and places it aside with the first leaving just three cards with the Queen in the center. Then the performer decides to remove yet another spot card which leaves just the Queen and one spot card in his hand. And to make things even easier for the spectator, the performer places the two cards face to face with a section of the spot card showing. There can be no doubt of where the Queen is now so the spectator places the clip on the supposed Queen, but misses again! This card is placed aside with the others leaving just the Queen in the performer’s hand.
Now for the unexpected climax! The magician tells the spectator that they should have no problem in placing the clip on the Queen this time. The spectator places the clip on the card but the magician says that you just missed it this time. When the card it turned over it is seen to be a spot card with a miniature Queen attached to it, and the clip has just missed it.
