UniKey 3 by Peter Crush

Description

From a magician’s estate purchase. No instructions but see below.

This is a great professional piece of magic for any close up magician. This special folding key can be used for the Key in Bottle, Ring on Key, and Linking Keys routines. It comes with a regular matching key. It originally came with some replacement bands buy they’re not included.

Information regarding the UNIKEY 3 magic prop is predominantly found within the dedicated instructional manuscript that accompanied the trick itself. Because it is a precision-made close-up magic gimmick (a folding key used for effects like Key in Bottle, Ring on Key, and Linking Keys) rather than a generalized magic concept, information on it is limited to specific literature:

• The UNIKEY 3 Instructional Booklet: The primary literature on this gimmick is the official 16-page instructional manuscript authored by Peter Crush that was packaged directly with the prop. This booklet details the handling, routines, and maintenance (such as re-banding the folding mechanism) for the utility device.

• Related Literature (Folding Gimmicks): While it does not focus on the key variant specifically, Peter Crush’s well-known book Folding Coin Secrets (1981) acts as the foundational text for the mechanics utilized in UNIKEY 3. It covers identical principles including how folding gaffs are machined, rubber band replacement methods (re-banding), and classic routines like the Coin/Key in Bottle.

Note: The book “Folding Coin Secrets” by Peter Crush is currently available from Magic Inc. for $7.95.
