Card-Wise Dice Plus

Description

Effect: A different and off-beat effect using playing cards and four dice. Four dice are shown and placed on the table from left to right. The leftmost die is placed with the number two showing, the next die shows number three, the next die number four, and the final and rightmost die shows number five. Each die is about four inches apart from each other. Next a pack of playing cards is introduced and the two through five of spades are removed. The two of spades is placed face down in front of the die showing number two, the three of spades is placed face down in front of the die showing number three, and so forth, until all four cards are in front of their numbered dice. The remainder of the pack is placed to the right of the number five die and its corresponding card.

The magician talks about the sympathetic nature of the cards to the dice. The number two die is picked up and placed in front of the three of spades. The number three die is picked up and placed in front of the four of spades. The number four die is picked up and placed in front of the five of spades. The number five die is picked up and placed in front of the pack of cards.

When the card with the number two die is turned over it is seen to be the two of spades and not the three of spades. The card with the number three die is turned over and is seen to be the three of spades and not the four of spades. The card with the number four die is turned over and is seen to be the four of spades and not the five of spades. The deck with the number five die is shown to have the five of spades fifth from the top of the deck!

The spectators ask what about the remaining leftmost card without any die in front of it. The performer gathers up the four dice and places them all in front of the leftmost card. The performer has the spectators add up the top numbers of all four dice to get the total of fourteen. When the card is turned face up it is seen to be the fourteen of spades!

Supplied with a new deck of bridge-size Aviator cards (the seal has been opened), the special 14 of Spades card, four dice, and instructions. Some card handling is required.
