From an old magician’s estate purchase. Vintage 1940’s. No instructions. From Four Guy’s Prod. Inc. in N. Y. C. 1, NY.
Squeeze on the sides of the box, and the lid flips open, and the clown pops out, just like a JACK-IN-THE-BOX. The clown appears to be thumbing his nose at a person for having the smoking habit or to the person who wanted to bum a cigarette. The closed box measures 2-1/8″ x 2-3/4″ and functions properly.
The clown is missing two of its fingers and the Chesterfield cigarette box shows wear and has some sections missing at the top sides and the label on top. The spring works well (has some light surface rust) and the catch to hold the figure in position when pushed down inside the box is good.
Still makes for a very different and desirable item for your vintage magic and joke collection.
