The magic squeaker is a very simple prop, comprising of a toy squeaker fitted inside a small sponge pillow. When you press on the center of the pillow it will emit a squeaking sound.
When used in a trick, the squeaker can be palmed, and pressed with your curled fingers as your forefinger points to or touches something. The pointing action perfectly covers any movement of
your fingers. For example, if there are three sponge balls on the table, you press each one in tum with your finger and one of them squeaks. Ask your audience to keep track of the one that squeaks and they will never forget it.
It is not at all necessary to conceal the squeaker in the hand which does the pointing, or pressing, and it can in fact be in your other hand, which is out of view, or in your pocket, or at any convenient place.
You can attach a safety pin to the squeaker with a piece of Scotch Tape and pin it under your sleeve, operating it by your hand resting on the edge of the table, or near your waist, operated by the elbow, or anywhere you please. You could even place it in your Shoe!
The idea is to have the squeaker under your absolute control. As long as the timing is correct, the audience cannot identify the direction of the sound. This is what makes the Ventriloquist’s art possible
