The classic King Tut Magic Mummy trick is a vintage novelty toy from the 1940s and 1950s—most famously produced by the Franco-American Novelty Co.that uses hidden magnets to make a small plastic mummy leap out of or stay inside its sarcophagus.
Effect: The magician places the small plastic King Tut mummy into its matching sarcophagus (coffin) and hands it to a spectator, claiming the mummy refuses to stay inside. When the spectator opens or holds it, the mummy seemingly “comes to life” and pops or jumps right back out. When the magician takes it back, they can tap or place it inside, and the mummy rests peacefully inside the coffin without moving.
